Nantwich Lodge attracts true safari lovers who want to get off the beaten track and discover the pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife of Northern Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Perched up on a hill overlooking a large dam with resident crocodile and hippo, the game lodge boasts some of the best game viewing in the area. This remote safari lodge in Hwange National Park promotes conservation and responsible tourism by preserving the natural heritage of this great wilderness.

Each room has been lovingly recreated in an eco-friendly way, adding a refreshing modern touch and a new purpose. We have repurposed existing into stylish and useful accents around the lodge, a prime example of true African innovation. All nine rooms sleep two guests with four of them having inter-leading doors allowing for families or friends to share yet still have privacy.

Located in the north-western corner of Hwange National Park, Hideaways Nantwich Lodge is the closest safari lodge in Hwange to Victoria Falls. Its location also provides easy access to Chobe National Park in neighbouring Botswana. Guests can reach the lodge by light aircraft, helicopter flight, road transfer or self-drive.

The recommended flight route is from Victoria Falls Airport to Robins Airstrip, a short and efficient connection operated by regional charter companies “at per seat rate”. From the airstrip, guests are met for a scenic 30-minute game drive transfer to the lodge. This is the quickest way to access Nantwich Lodge and offers striking aerial views of Hwange’s mosaic of woodland and grassland.

Guests travelling from either Victoria Falls or the Pandamatenga Border (Botswana) follow the most direct route into the northern region of Hwange National Park via Nantwich Gate, locally known as Robins Area. From there, the drive continues through the park to the lodge’s ridge-top setting, offering a scenic introduction to the landscapes and wildlife of northern Hwange.

Guests travelling to Hideaways Nantwich Lodge by self-drive can follow the directions below.

From: Victoria Falls

Leave Victoria Falls on the main road towards Bulawayo.
Continue for approximately 45 km.
Turn right at the signposted Pandamatenga Border Post onto the gravel road. As mobile network coverage is limited beyond this point, we recommend contacting the lodge to let the team know you’ve reached this turn-off.
Continue straight on the gravel road for approximately 60 km until you reach the Robins Entrance Gate to Hwange National Park.
Drive a further 12 km to Robins Camp Reception and the Zimbabwe Parks offices, where park entry formalities are completed.
After leaving the Zimbabwe Parks offices, continue along the main road until you see the sign for Hideaways Nantwich Lodge. Turn off here and follow the lodge signage to your destination.

The position of our game lodge in Hwange, Zimbabwe ensures you have a virtual all-year safari destination in Southern Africa. Aim for the cooler, dry season between July and October for an optimum safari experience as waterholes attract a great variety of animals and the bush thins out well to ensure great wildlife viewing. Daytime temperatures are in the mid 20’s but drop considerably at night to below 10 degrees Celsius. For those with a special interest in birds, the best time to book a stay at Nantwich Lodge is between November and April when the wet summer months attract a host of migratory species. Just be aware that temperatures can exceed 30 degrees Celsius, so protection against the sun is a must.

Nantwich sits in the northern Hwange region, which is known for big game densities and strong predator viewing, especially lions.

On most stays, guests can realistically expect to see elephant (often in large numbers), buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and a variety of antelope. Lions are a highlight here, and you may also see spotted hyena, with leopard and wild dog being possible but never guaranteed. Birdlife is excellent year-round, with a noticeable lift in diversity during the summer months.

Nantwich is a strong year-round Hwange safari, but the feel changes by season.

May to August (cool, dry winter): crisp mornings, warm days, very comfortable for game drives. Vegetation thins and visibility improves.
September to October (late dry season, warmer): often the best game-viewing months in Hwange, as animals gather around waterholes and predator activity can be excellent. Expect hotter afternoons.
November to March (green season, warmer with summer rains): the landscape becomes greener, there are fewer visitors, and birding is at its best thanks to migratory species. Wildlife still delivers, but it can be more dispersed than in the dry season.
April (shoulder season): a good balance, with fresh landscapes after the rains and comfortable temperatures as the dry season begins to settle in.

A stay of three to four nights is ideal for Nantwich Lodge. This allows time to settle into the pace of the bush, enjoy multiple game drives and activities, and experience the area’s wildlife without feeling rushed.
