Your Experience

Sunrise and sunset offer safari explorations of our private concession in a classic style safari vehicle. For a experience truly connected to nature, we invite you to embark on a walking safari – following in the footsteps of our experienced professional guides. One may even take to the Khwai River itself atop a traditional Botswana Mokoro – floating beside the African wild wonders. This is especially tempting if you are a keen birder – the riverine habitat is a haven for birds.

Simply relaxing by the pool or observing the river and its wildlife from the deck is accepting our invitation for relaxation. To fulfill your cultural curiosity and understanding, a village experience may be arranged – educating guests about local life, human-wildlife co-existence as well as the community projects linked to the lodge. Location

A large area dominated by Mopane forest fringing the Okavango Delta, Khwai is a safari pearl in the centre between Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park. The riverine habitat is a biodiverse ecosystem, the area ample with species such as Camelthorn, Knobthorn, Appleleaf and Leadwood – great stands of forest providing shade, nutrients and residence, bursting with a rich diversity of life.

GAME DRIVES

Experience daily African wildlife encounters with nature in a classic safari vehicle through the eyes and knowledge of our passionate guides. Departure times occur in the cooler hours of the early mornings or afternoons, a favourite for guests and wildlife itself. Our Mogotlho guides are excited to share their knowledge of the bush with you and provide a game viewing experience of the highest quality.

NIGHT SAFARIS

Night safaris are an invitation to the mysterious nocturnal wildlife.  Exploring the wilderness provides a unique opportunity to discover the unusual and secretive nocturnal members of the animal kingdom. A two-hour drive offers the chance to see a different world of nocturnal species including owls and a variety of diurnally elusive predators.
Walking Safari

BUSH WALKS

Walking in the footsteps of our safari guides along the banks of the Khwai River provides you with an opportunity to learn more about the indigenous flora and traditional medicinal uses of plants, getting up close and personal with nature. A bush walk is a sensory experience, spending time observing, listening, learning and reconnecting to the African animal kingdom. Our guides will highlight the various facets of the ecosystem, as well as impart their tracking knowledge, sharing the rich history of Botswana.

FULL-DAY SAFARIS

Safari aficionados and bush lovers, will experience full-day safari excursion into the Moremi Game Reserve and the surrounding Khwai safari area. Exploring the waterways of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro and game viewing from water level is a surreal and exhilarating experience which can also be arranged with this daytrip.

HELICOPTER EXPERIENCE

Taking to the skies from the lodge, heading north east and skirting the Mababe Depression, this scenic activity provides a point of view over these wilderness areas which completes ones understanding of its vastness, biodiversity, waterways and wildlife abundance. The Khwai River itself broadens into a network of islands, the contrast of clear water and land creating a quilted landscape. The intricate ecosystem of floodplains and waterways is clearly visible from air, commanding a certain respect for its interwoven web of life and the various natural elements it supports. From Mopane woodland to palm trees, lagoons and islands of white sands, the world of the delta is a multi-faceted wonder of nature, witnessed in vibrant detail from above.
