Camp Kuzuma is a remote safari camp in Botswana in the Chobe Enclave, that borders Chobe National Park and Zimbabwe and is one of the top safari lodges in this area. Located in an exceptional wilderness area consisting of vast open plains and forests, it forms part of a busy wildlife corridor between Chobe National Park, Botswana and Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, ensuring amazing wildlife encounters. The seven well-appointed tents at Kuzuma are incredibly spacious, boasting deep Victorian baths and king-sized beds draped in mosquito nets. With a true commitment to eco-tourism, this Chobe safari lodge is completely off the grid yet offers all the comforts guests may desire. Kuzuma’s expert guides will astound you with their knowledge of the local fauna and flora as will the amount of wildlife to discover when journeying through the bush in an open-air safari vehicle.

Camp Kuzuma has 7 luxury open-plan tented suites situated under a canopy of Mopane trees, designed to look out into the bushveld while providing absolute privacy. Our 7 tented suites offer luxury and comfort in this magnificent wilderness area. Each suite exudes a romantic and nostalgic ambience with safari memorabilia throughout. All suites are luxurious spaces each with a private sun deck and ensuite canvas bathrooms with high-back Victorian baths, double basins, double inside showers and an outside shower.

Our aim at Camp Kuzuma is to touch the earth lightly and minimize our carbon footprint. We operate completely off the grid using 100% renewable solar energy systems, with power being generated by solar panels. We do offer air-conditioning but only turn it on at certain times to preserve power.

For families with young adults we have 2 tented suites next to each other with an interleading walkway. The distance between each entrance is approximately 4 metres.

Camp Kuzuma lies in the Chobe region of Botswana and is part of the pristine Kazuma Forest Reserve. Our Chobe Safari lodge can easily be reached by road. It is just 2 hours from Victoria Falls and 1 hour from Kasane. Its location on the borders of Chobe National Park and Zimbabwe, means it is only a 2.5-3 hour drive from Nantwich Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. Combining a Botswana safari package with Hwange can therefore be arranged without much effort.

Guests at our Chobe safari lodge can expect mild and pleasant temperatures when they decide to travel between May and October. It rarely rains and animals continue to migrate in search of available water and food sources. It can get extremely hot during the afternoon in the wet season from November to March. Mornings can sometimes be on the cooler side, so remember to bring a jacket, especially if opting for a cruise on the Chobe River.

Your Experience

Every new day at our Botswana safari lodge is announced by the rhythmic beat of African drums, rousing guests for another day of riveting wildlife experiences in the wilds of Chobe and Hwange. The boutique eco-lodge is situated in a busy animal corridor and part of an ancient elephant migratory route. Your tent has a private viewing deck as well as a refreshing outdoor shower.

In the main area, a rim-flow pool overlooks the busy waterhole where herds of elephants drink and bathe, and during the dry season other animals line up to wait their turn. The sunken fire pit just off the deck is a space that invites quiet contemplation in the cool afternoon breeze and a gathering place for bush tales around the campfire in the evening. Look forward to boma dinners under the stars and an African Chic experience, a down-to-earth dinner with a delightfully local African flavour.

Our expert guides will astound you with their knowledge of fauna and flora as will the amount of wildlife to discover, including members of the Big 5. Besides journeying through the bush in an open-air safari vehicle, guests also have the incredible opportunity to experience the area by water. A Chobe River boat cruise is an absolute must-do. Hippos and crocodiles bask in the sun on the banks of the river while elephants get right in the water and walk across to the other side, indeed an up close and personal experience.
