Featuring 10 eco-friendly Meru-style tented suites, each perched on elevated wooden platforms with private balconies sheltered beneath a canopy of mopane trees. Designed with sustainability in mind, the solar-powered tents include en-suite bathrooms with twin basins and a shower offering stunning views. Guests can choose between king or twin beds, dressed in high-end linen with ultra-comfortable mattresses, ensuring a restful stay.

Hideaways Mankwe Tented Retreat is located only 92km from Maun, offering easy access for those arriving at Maun Airport. For added convenience, road transfers from the airport to the lodge can be arranged. For a truly unique experience, helicopter transfers can also be arranged from Maun to the lodge. Alternatively, clients can fly to/from Khwai Airstrip for an even more seamless journey.

Hideaways Mankwe Tented Retreat is located on the eastern edge of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a prime location within its own expansive 365,000-hectare concession. The lodge is just a stone’s throw away from the Moremi Game Reserve to the west, with Chobe National Park to the north and Maun approximately two hours south by road.

For self-drivers, Mankwe is approximately two hours north of Maun by road, making it an accessible option for those traveling independently.

The best time to visit Hideaways Mankwe Tented Retreat, located on the edge of the Okavango Delta near Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Area, is from May to October. During this dry season, wildlife viewing is exceptional as animals gather around limited water sources, with average daytime temperatures reaching a comfortable 25-28 degrees Celsius. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, often dipping below 10 degrees, so be sure to pack warm layers.

As September and October approach, temperatures can rise above 40 degrees Celsius during the day, adding a true African safari atmosphere. The heat brings with it incredible wildlife activity around waterholes, making for unforgettable sightings. With our two inviting pools, we provide the perfect spots to cool off and unwind in between your adventures, ensuring your stay is as comfortable as it is memorable.

From November to March, the region experiences its rainy season with warmer temperatures and lush green landscapes. This period offers opportunities to witness newborn wildlife and vibrant birdlife, including migrant and breeding species.
