Between April and November, this solar-powered 12-bed seasonal safari tented camp on the bank of the Zambezi River in the Mana Pools National Park delivers spectacular sightings of elephants, wild dogs and lions, some from the comfort of the dining area. Here guests take a walk on the wild side in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, connected to the natural world, without missing out on creature comforts like a hot shower. Camp Mana can accommodate 12 guests in its eight safari tents that have large gauze windows, allowing the sights and sounds of the surrounding bush to continuously drift through. Each tent has en-suite bathroom facilities.

The setting of Camp Mana makes it the perfect Zimbabwe safari destination. The lodge is accessible by air charter to Mana Main Airport, with a 45-minute drive to the camp, delivering guests to this unique wilderness area. From Harare to Chirundu, it is a 4-hour road transfer where a 1 hour 15-minute boat ride to Mana Pools awaits. This journey on the mighty Zambezi River is the start of your wildlife adventure as riverine species are observed from a unique vantage point. From your drop-off point at Nyamepi, we game drive to Camp Mana.

Boat Transfer to Camp Mana

There is no better introduction to the magic of this wildlife wonderland than with a 1 hour 15-minute boat transfer from Chirundu to Camp Mana. The Zambezi River is the fourth-longest river in Africa, the longest east-flowing river on the continent and the largest flowing into the Indian Ocean from Africa. Marvel at the sight of elephants, hippos, crocodiles and the superb birdlife while merrily snapping away. Arrive at your destination with a new appreciation of the natural world and ready to start the trip of a lifetime.

Mana Pools is wonderful year-round, however because of challenges of accessibility during the rainy season, Camp Mana is open from April until November every year. The dry season, between July and October, are the optimum time for game viewing in Mana Pools National Park. This is when countless species congregate around the available water sources, making a safari possible from the comfort of Camp Mana. The days are warm (28 degrees Celsius) while evenings and early mornings are on the cool side.

Your Experience

Camp Mana nestles close to the Mana Pools National Park's eastern boundary. The tents of the safari camp enjoy uninterrupted views of the sweeping floodplains of Mana Pools, making game viewing possible from the comfort of your tent. Elephants and sometimes even lions meandering through camp are part and parcel of life on the wildside. Mana Pools is also famous for its elephants standing on their hind legs, stretching up to reach the delicacies of the Albida trees, especially in the dry season. A sundowner overlooking the river awaits after a day of exploring Mana Pools on a guided game drive, canoe, or walking safari. The best is saved for last with dinner under a canopy of stars and after-dinner drinks around the campfire.
