Chundu Island’s unique location on the banks of the Zambezi River, inside Zambezi National Park, makes it a tranquil and exclusive retreat just upstream from Victoria Falls. Its river-island setting offers the perfect combination of wilderness immersion and easy access to one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders.

From Victoria Falls International Airport its only a 1.5 hour road transfer, followed by a 5 minute pontoon boat hop to Chundu Island.

Chundu Island’s location on the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe offers a year-round safari and river escape. For the best wildlife viewing, aim for the dry season between May and October, when the riverbanks are busy with animals and the thinner bush makes game easier to spot. Daytime temperatures are warm and comfortable, ranging from the mid-20s°C, while nights can be cooler, dropping into the mid-teens.

For bird enthusiasts, the wet season between November and April is ideal, as the lush green landscape attracts a variety of migratory species and brings the river to life. Expect occasional rain showers and warmer temperatures, sometimes exceeding 30°C, so sun protection and light, breathable clothing are recommended.
