Guiding Philosophy

For Clint, safety always comes first. His calm and patient approach allows guests to notice the smaller details, the shift in bird calls, the movement in the grass, the feeling of being fully present in a wild place. His role is not to rush sightings, but to guide understanding and share a genuine love for every creature. Guests leave with knowledge, a few good laughs, and the kind of memories that stay with them long after the journey ends. Often, what begins with strangers ends in friendship.

About Clint K Robertson

Growing up on a Zimbabwean farm meant my childhood involved fewer video games and more “don’t touch that, it’s venomous.” Being surrounded by that environment shaped my love for the bush, but the real catalyst was spending every free moment outdoors with my dog and realising that wildlife often makes far more sense than people.
My guiding journey began in Mana Pools, first at Chikwenya, and later with African Bush Camps in Hwange National Park. I started as an apprentice, working my way up through operations, canoe leadership, and camp management while earning my learner guide licence. I learned guiding the old-fashioned way, by living in the bush, not reading about it.
I love sharing the bush with guests, especially when they experience something for the first time and their faces light up. There is also always room to clear up a few misconceptions along the way, like reminding people that hippos are more dangerous than lions, and that lions are not just oversized house cats.
Mana Pools and the Zambezi River will always be close to my heart, along with Hwange and any remote wilderness where elephants move freely through camp. I am equally drawn to Uganda, tracking mountain gorillas through dense rainforest, Kenya’s Masai Mara with its rolling grasslands, Botswana’s Okavango where water shapes every movement, Mozambique’s wild coastal landscapes, and Namibia, where the desert defines everything around it.
