Fishing charters with Ocean Life Charters depart from the walk-on marina at the False Bay Yacht Club in Simonstown and offer a range of flexible options suited to families, small groups, and experienced anglers. Trips are private, meaning guests have exclusive use of the boat and can tailor the experience to their interests, time available, and comfort level.
Nearshore Fishing Charters (4 Hours)
Nearshore trips are ideal for families, guests travelling with children, or those looking for a relaxed introduction to fishing without venturing far offshore. These trips remain close to Simonstown and focus on smaller reef fish in calmer waters.
Charters can run either in the morning or afternoon, with later departure times available for guests who prefer a slower start. All fishing equipment, bait, snacks, and drinks are provided, and the skipper offers hands-on guidance throughout. The pace is unhurried, making this a comfortable option for first-time anglers or guests who want to enjoy time on the water without committing to a long day at sea.

Inshore Fishing Charters (6 Hours)
Inshore charters venture further along the coast and are planned based on weather conditions and seasonal fish activity. Depending on conditions, fishing may take place around Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope, or near Seal Island.
These trips suit guests who want more time fishing and a greater variety of locations, while still remaining within reach of the coastline. Morning and afternoon departures are available, with start times adjusted seasonally. As with all trips, equipment, bait, snacks, and drinks are included, and the skipper adapts the experience to the group’s level of experience.

Offshore Tuna Fishing (Full Day, Seasonal)
Full-day offshore tuna trips run seasonally from mid-October to early June and are dependent on tuna activity and suitable weather conditions. These outings travel further offshore, typically between 10 and 30 miles from the coast, and require calmer sea conditions.
Trips run for approximately 10 to 12 hours and start early in the morning. All fishing tackle, bait, snacks, drinks, and a light lunch are provided. For comfort and space, smaller group sizes are recommended.

Eco and Scenic Charters
Shorter eco charters are also available for guests who prefer sightseeing over fishing. These trips typically last around two hours and may include visits to Seal Island or scenic coastal routes toward Cape Point. Wildlife sightings often include seals, seabirds, penguins, dolphins, and occasionally whales, although whale viewing is incidental rather than advertised.
Eco trips are commonly offered in the afternoon or as sunset cruises and include light snacks and drinks.
