6 Nights

Rhino Tracking Safari Itinerary

2 nights Big Cave Camp, Matopos | 3 nights Hideaways Elephant’s Eye Tented Camp, Hwange | 1 night Ilala Lodge Victoria Falls

Safari begins in Bulawayo and ends in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Matobo Hills

This 6-night rhino tracking safari in Zimbabwe starts off at the scenic and historic Matobos. The park enjoys World Heritage status because of its valuable collection of African rock art; at least 3000 rock art sites documenting human history from the Early Stone Age. The unique granite hills and gravity-defying balancing rocks, for which the park is known form the backdrop to your rhino walking safari where you will track rhinos and other game on foot.

The park is an Intensive Protection Zone for endangered black and white rhinos, roaming free in large numbers. Feel an unrivalled sense of awe when you encounter these magnificent beasts for the first time in their natural habitat. The Matopos offers one of the best experiences for rhino tracking in Zimbabwe.

Hwange National Park

Continue the search for the rest of the Big Five on this Zimbabwe safari package while exploring the animal-rich Hwange, one of the most untouched wilderness areas in Zimbabwe. The diverse Hwange National Park wildlife promises exceptional game viewing and Elephant’s Eye Tented Camp is perfectly positioned for the best game viewing in Hwange. Explore the park by game vehicle or on foot with an expert guide to track massive Presidential elephant herd and healthy lion population (some of which are Cecil the lion’s offspring). You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the celebrated Painted Dog Conservation centre.

Victoria Falls

Our Zimbabwe rhino tracking safari ends in Victoria Falls where the famous landmark will inspire awe and a new respect for nature.

Safari Itinerary

Rhino Track & Trail
Day 1 & 2

Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe

OVERNIGHT: BIG CAVE CAMP, MATOBO HILLS

Start your journey with a relaxing day acclimatising to your new surroundings at your leisure. The next morning is an early start to your rhino safari to experience a serene sunrise at the “World’s View” lookout point in Matobo National Park. You will quickly understand why it’s the spot that Cecil John Rhodes chose as his final resting place. Remember your walking shoes as you will be tracking the endangered white rhino on a rhino walking safari, deep in the bush. Although you will stay at a safe following distance you’ll feel deeply connected to these threatened creatures.

Day 3 & 4

Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

OVERNIGHT: HIDEAWAYS ELEPHANT’S EYE TENTED CAMP, HWANGE

Discover the deep and meaningful passion that our professional guides share for the Hwange bush during a guided game walk. They will share the inner workings of the ecosystem that can often be missed whilst on a game vehicle. Then enjoy a game drive into the heart of the park where a delicious picnic lunch will be served at one of the many waterholes. During the Zimbabwe dry season, the Hwange waterholes are the best sites for game viewing as they become a busy meeting point for a variety of wildlife, large and small. Sundowner drinks are waiting for you upon your return to the lodge where you can reminisce about the day’s top sightings and most captivating discoveries.
