A honeymoon unlike any other, ours was a journey that will forever be etched in our memory. Following a magical winter wedding in South Africa, my husband and I embarked on a honeymoon that surpassed all expectations. Initially, hesitant about exchanging an island vacation for a bush retreat, I was swayed by my husband’s love for safaris, and I thought it might be worth trying something new. Thus, the morning after exchanging our vows, we set off for Botswana.
After a series of plane rides, we landed in Kasane, and a wave of excitement washed over me. The crispness of the air, the unhurried pace, and my husband’s infectious enthusiasm for being in his favourite place all combined to ignite my excitement for this new adventure. We were transported to an idyllic lodge nestled within a wildlife corridor connecting Hwange National Park and Chobe National Park. On the first evening we were treated to the sight of elephants, antelope, and even lions at the watering hole from the patio while enjoying our sundowner cocktails.
The delights of our Chobe adventure continued with an unforgettable cruise on the Chobe River, where we watched as herds of elephants came to quench their morning thirst, accompanied by hippos navigating the waters around us.
Our days struck a perfect balance between safari adventures and the bliss of newlywed life. We indulged in rejuvenating massages at the lodge’s spa, with the steady stream of animals visiting the watering hole during our treatments. Evenings were spent watching the sunset with cocktails in hand, followed by dinners in different locations. One night in the dining room, another at the boma area – each location was truly magical. Each night, we had a private table where we could reflect on our extraordinary day and discuss our aspirations for our future.
The attentive staff catered to our every need, enabling us to immerse ourselves fully in this new chapter of our lives.
Honeymooning in the heart of the bush was an experience that will forever be imprinted in my memories. The wilderness, the romance, and the cherished moments at Camp Kuzuma have woven a tapestry that I will forever hold close.
